As I presented more research in the realm of clay imprints as a method of discovering and documenting textures, questions were asked and ways of narrowing it down came to light. I found it to be useful but also found it difficult to navigate....
I would go on to do the assignment at a later date (friday to be exact) scroll down to see
However yeah, I don't know what really really interests me within this... I want to work with my hands and I want to find the theme that will fuel this, but for me right now the textures is still to vague to know what the potential could be...
Archives kind of speak to me but then it also feels very systematic and rigid to me...but the historical part of it also speaks a bit to my practice as I dabble a bit in nostalgia.
What does the formalities of textures mean? idk maybe something I can discover....
In Michiels class we were first of all asked to read a text about rotterdam as a metropolis, which gave some insight into how rotterdam is perceived and marketed to be a metropolis that is diverse and full of potential.
We met outside of the wijnhaven building and proceeded to go to our 'spot' to take notes and observations of the surrounding area which is what you see in the purple writing above. The constant in this very area is the construction that takes place and the things that change are the people coming and going, the deliveries, the cars and the movement of the wind.
The homework we received I will present in the next weeks tab.
I did Natalia's exercise of recording and capturing changes and frequencies in our 'spot' I was mostly noticing the changes caused by the wind. This could be seen in the water movement, foliage, and even with my pen.
